Become a mentee

Learn more about yourself, your skills and your career!

The Student in Business Mentoring Programme is an offer aimed at final-year students and new entrants to the labour market

- would you like to be a part of it?

Become a mentee

As a student in a professional bachelor, bachelor or master’s programme, you will be provided with a mentor, who has two to eight years of work experience, the same or a similar educational background to yours and one who is from a local company. With your mentor you will have an opportunity to talk about the conclusion of your studies and your future career.

Your mentor will act as a sparring partner for you – someone with whom you can talk about your educational and career choices. Topics might for example include:

  • Insight into a business area
  • The transition from your studies to your first job
  • The job application process
  • Inspiration on how to apply theory in practice and to larger projects, as well as tips that can help you on your way in your future professional career.

Next mentoring programme will start in the beginning of november 2022. You can sign up below if you want to receive information for upcomming programs.

the chance to ease the transition from your studies to your first job. The mentoring relationship can also give you some early contact with the area of business, thereby providing you with better insight into how your education can be applied after graduation, and the expectations of the employment market. It can also help to give you a new view on your education, and what it can be used for. Last but not least, the mentoring relationship is an opportunity to obtain guidance and advice on how to stay focused and make important decisions concerning your future.

To participate in the mentoring programme, you must be highly motivated to develop in the mentoring relationship. It is your task to take responsibility for the relationship, prepare and schedule meetings, set the agenda and write down focus points that you will work on before the next meeting. You must also be prepared to be flexible in terms of the time and place of meetings.

The SIBU Mentoring Programme has a duration of 8 months and kicks off each year in November. At the kick- off meeting, both the mentee and the mentor will be provided with guidance on their roles.
A total of 6 meetings are held during the process, with the agendas set by the mentee. Halfway through the process, there will be a midway-meeting at which an exciting workshop on coaching will take place. The event will also have great opportunities for networking with other mentors and mentees. The mentoring programme concludes in May with a joint event for all mentors and mentees, focusing on professionalism and networking.

As a mentee you must apply to be part of the mentoring programme. You do this by registering yourself in our recruitment system, in which, amongst other things, you explain your motivation for wishing to participate. Places are limited and SIBU will match you with a mentor. Please bear in mind that although we would like to find a mentor for everyone, there is a risk that there may not be a mentor, who matches your particular profile.
