Become a mentor
- would you like to be a part of it?
Become a mentor
In the mentoring role, you will act as sparring partner for a mentee, guiding them in their educational and career choices. As a mentor, you can:
- Create greater visibility for your company
- Develop your personal competencies
- Exercise responsibility and provide guidance
- Join a strong professional network with other mentors and mentees
AS A MENTOR, YOU CAN ...
… make the transition from studies to career a positive experience for a student. Esbjerg and the surrounding area needs a dynamic group of people in the business community, who can help to retain coming graduates in the area. The mentoring role can also provide you with enhancement of your personal skills that you can apply in your own future career.
WHAT IS THE PROCESS?
The SIBU Mentoring Programme has a duration of 8 months and kicks off each year in November. At the kick- off meeting, both the mentee and the mentor will be provided with guidance on their roles.
A total of 6 meetings are held during the process, with the agendas set by the mentee. Halfway through the process, there will be a midway-meeting at which an exciting workshop on coaching will take place. The event will also have great opportunities for networking with other mentors and mentees. The mentoring programme concludes in May with a joint event for all mentors and mentees, focusing on professionalism and networking.
HOW YOU WILL BE MATCHED UP
When we know the profiles of the mentors, a post will be made targeted towards possible mentees. The post will include the logo of the company that the mentor represents.
Based on the applications we receive, we match you as a mentor with a mentee, who is soon to have the same or a similar educational background as you.
We also match mentor and mentee based upon what you both have wished to get out of the Student in Business Mentoring Programme.
In case of doubt regarding the match between a mentor and a mentee the mentor will be contacted before the match will be finalized.
All mentors who have signed up for the mentoring programme will know their mentees by October.
The mentor and mentee will gain information about each other at the kick-off event in November.
