Tutoring Programme

Inspiration for your choice of
study programme and study city

The Student in Business tutoring programme is for final-year secondary students who are seeking inspiration for their choice of higher education

- would you like to be a part of it?

The student in business tutoring programme provides final-year secondary school students with…

  • Inspiration for the choice of study programme and study city
  • Experiences from student life in Esbjerg
  • Insight into the career opportunities linked to the choice of study programme
  • New acquaintances and communities before the potential start of studies

Pilot project 2022

The pilot project for the Student in Business Tutor Programme will run from january to june 2022. During this period, students (tutors) from various third-level educational institutions in Esbjerg will show final-year pupils from the secondary schools Ribe Katedralskole, Det Blå Gymnasium Varde and Varde Gymnasium what student life in Esbjerg can be like. Giving pupils the chance to experience events and initiatives like the 'Kongekampen Studiebold Tournament’ or public lectures at a university gives them a natural sense of belonging and knowledge about student life in Esbjerg, and can inspire them in their choice of study city. The events of the pilot project are strategically arranged around three key dates (see figure, right).

I am a final-year school student

Are you a final-year student in a secondary school in South West Jutland, and about to choose the city in which you wish to study? Here you can learn more about what life as a student in Esbjerg can be like, and sign up for the Student in Business Tutoring Programme together with your friends. With a tutor from one of the city’s third-level educational institutions, you will take part in both social and academic events, and receive:

  • Inspiration for the choice of study programme and study city
  • Experiences from student life in Esbjerg
  • Insight into the career opportunities linked to the choice of study programme
  • New acquaintances and communities before your potential start of studies

I would like to be a tutor

If you are a student at one of the city’s institutions of higher or further education, you could help to inspire secondary school pupils in their choice of study programme and city of study. As a volunteer tutor, you will receive:

  • Ownership of your study programme and place of study
  • A social and professional network in the educational and business worlds, respectively
  • Personal skills enhancement that can be of use in your future career
  • A written statement for your CV, focusing on “extraordinary efforts for the city/South West Jutland”
We need to show it, not tell it

I remember that the choice of what and where to study was confusing, and I had a hard time getting an overall impression of what my own student life would actually be like. So if Esbjerg is to attract more students, it is really important that we show final-year pupils from secondary schools in South West Jutland what the student life in the city can offer – BEFORE they make their final choice.
